I Made A Pie

Is this domestic life at its most profound? Writing in my pyjamas at 8:30 in the morning, contemplating my new gym membership and basking in the morning-after glow of a freshly baked pie? I wonder.

Last night I made a pie - a deep dark, ooey gooey, sweet and tasty cherry pie. With a lattice top.

I thought about my grand-mother, who (I think) wore Chanel N.5 and was married on Halloween. She never baked a pie, though, as I can remember. Nanny would make a good short story, but was she a good wife? Did she have a happy marriage? Conflicting accounts.

We are tying the knot. Wedding planning session number two took place last night. There will be a private, special thing for immediate family, we decided, and a separate no-holds-barred party for friends. It will be in Toronto.

Will my betrothed like my blog? He's not the bloggy type. But he loved my pie, and he loves me. And as my auntie proclaimed when I told her we're getting married, "There's a wonderful life of comprise ahead of you!"

Stay tuned nutbars and loved ones. The journey to wedded bliss has just begun. Welcome to Eat, Drink and Be Married.

  1. Congrats! on getting engaged... or maybe I should say "being" engaged, Since "getting" would note towards some sort of planning.... and I'm assuming that... at least on your part... there was very little. On his part though.... I'm sure there was very much. (planning that is.)

I saw your name on a movie poster in the mall today. (Avalon mall, St. johns NL... "Crackie" was the movie, One of my dogs auditioned for the role. I ended up thinking of Drama class and you introducing me to Life after God (I have since continued a sordid relationship with all of Mr Couplands work....)
